WebI’m not sure how he does it, but if you want to do it in ableton, you can set your tracks to “sends only” and have one return track as your non sidechain and another with your sidechain. Essentially you are turning your returns into busses or group tracks but it gives you an extra step for controlling volume with the send amount.
