If you're looking at Tex Mex & Texas Specials they are not traditional Strat pickups. They are overwound & designed more for overdriven strat sounds and not the traditional clean tones. Webb28 feb. 2010 · The 54's sound really great. They are wound at 5.9K if I remember correctly, and they have a lot of upper midrange and treble, similar to the ssl-1's. The 69's on the other hand, are very low output. The ones that I have read 5.35K on the dot. They have a much smoother sound than the 54's, less midrange and more warmth.
